a lesson to learn

The other day my boss brought in a poster that his daughter had made from a lesson she heard at a youth group or some other function. It was entitled ‘Bill Gates’ rules to live by’ – now for the record I looked it up & it was never said or written by Bill Gates and is actually part of a book by a man named Charles J. Sykes (afterall, we must give credit where credit is due). Regardless of who said it or wrote it first, I find them to be rather practical and wish I had listened to the elders in my life as a teenager that were trying to tell me these very same things. Just thought I’d share my favorite (Rule #5) – things were so different in my grandparents’ day and I need to be reminded that, no matter what job I do, it is an¬†opportunity – not a burden or beneath me – and I should do it to the best of my ability.

Colosians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,¬†since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (now that is an opportunity)
