The other day my boss brought in a poster that his daughter had made from a lesson she heard at a youth group or some other function. It was entitled ‘Bill Gates’ rules to live by’ – now for the record I looked it up & it was never said or written by Bill Gates and is actually part of a book by a man named Charles J. Sykes (afterall, we must give credit where credit is due). Regardless of who said it or wrote it first, I find them to be rather practical and wish I had listened to the elders in my life as a teenager that were trying to tell me these very same things. Just thought I’d share my favorite (Rule #5) – things were so different in my grandparents’ day and I need to be reminded that, no matter what job I do, it is an opportunity – not a burden or beneath me – and I should do it to the best of my ability.
Colosians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (now that is an opportunity)
Here’s the rest of the list…
(remember doing things like this & using every marker or crayon in the box?!)
